How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only for legitimate nonprofit purposes:
- To respond to your inquiries and communications
- To process donations and provide tax receipts
- To send organizational updates and impact reports if you have opted in
- To improve our website and understand how people find us
- To fulfill our legal obligations as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for any reason. We are a nonprofit — your data is not our product.
Donation Processing
Donations are processed through Givebutter, a third-party donation platform. When you donate, you are also subject to Givebutter's privacy policy, which you can review at givebutter.com. Texas DisasterLink receives your name, email address, and donation amount — we do not receive or store your payment card information.
Donation records are retained as required by IRS regulations governing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. We use donation records to issue tax receipts and maintain required financial records.
Email Communications
If you contact us or make a donation, we may send you organizational updates, impact reports, or information about our programs. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time and we will remove you from all non-essential communications promptly.
We do not send unsolicited bulk email. We do not purchase or use email lists.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. Our website uses SSL/TLS encryption (the padlock you see in your browser). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We limit access to your personal information to personnel who need it to operate our programs and fulfill our mission.
